George Land Presents Award to Innovative Organizations

George Land personally presented the George Land World Class Innovator Awards to the four winners for this year at Convergence 97 in Atlanta. The winning organizations are IdeaVerse, Lucent Technologies' "Infinite Space for Whole-Brain Thinking; Marshall Industries; SleepNet Corporation; and Washoe Health System.
The Land award, which was created to recognize innovation and creativity in organizations, was named in honor of George Land, CEO of Leadership 2000, author of Grow or Die and co-author of Breakpoint and Beyond. Land has helped organizations become more innovative for over 30 years.
In a panel discussion following the presentation, representatives of the winning organizations gave a brief overview of the innovation activities within their organizations. While it was easy to see some common principles and philosophies, the winners demonstrated a variety of approaches to creating an innovation organization.
