Expressive Arts for Innovation:
Life, Paint and Passion
Presented by:
Stewart Cubley, Co-Founder
of the Institute for Art and Living
Please
join us for a one-day workshop to learn a process that will:
- teach you to access creative flow at
will
- strengthen your risk-taking skills
- help you break through old blocks to
new solutions
The true challenge in modern professional life
is to find a balance between supporting individual creativity
while accommodating the constant demands of a fast-paced and
challenging work environment. The full extent of an individual's
resources go far beyond the tasks that are normally required
in day to day activities, resulting in great potential being
left unused or sacrificed in continual response to crisis
and deadline. Learning to use this untapped potential is vital
to the creative health of the individual and to the success
of organizations as a whole.
In this workshop participants learn to explore and experience
first hand the power of accessing a flow state of continuous
creation through the use of intuitive painting. No experience
or knowledge of painting or art is required; in fact it is
an advantage to have no experience in this field. This mode
of painting allows participants to experience the process
of creation and risk-taking without the pressure of results.
There is no evaluation, comparison, discussion or judgment
of the work; it is the process of creation itself that is
explored through the metaphor of painting. All materials are
supplied.
Issues that will be experienced
and discussed are:
- getting started--essential steps that
many people miss
- daring to do things differently or imperfectly
- managing judgment of yourself and others
- following through, versus giving up
- the importance of completion in moving
on effectively
The workshop will include the following
activities:
- Introduction-discussing objectives and
processes.
- Experiential Sessions - facilitators
lead participants privately to experience their own creative
process, and to discover and transcend blocks.
- Discovery Sessions - facilitated discussion
of insights gained and how to use them to work and live
more creatively.
This program is presented by Stewart Cubley, who has been
teaching this original approach to the creative process
for over 20 years at the Institute for Art and Living, a
San Francisco-based school he co-founded. Stewart teaches
this workshop all over the world in various formats. He
has published "Life, Paint and Passion: Reclaiming
the Magic of Spontaneous Expression" (Tarcher/Putnam,
1996).
This workshop has a proven track record at Lucent Technoloies
as an extremely effective tool by which business professionals
can unlock creative logjams and discover new solutions where
none seemed possible. Here is what some previous participants
have said:
"I found this workshop to be a great process to explore
how to do "real" out-of-box thinking. I relearned
that we all have the ability to be creative. This process
provides the tools to help you think and act creatively
in everything you do."
"This workshop has made me realize--proven to me--that
I am infinitely creative, and teaches the process of how
to tap into this creativity. It teaches, through actual
doing, the necessary ingredients for sustaining a high level
of creativity, and how important intuition is in doing our
everyday work at Lucent....and I love the way the class
is taught."
"As a result of this workshop I voice and act on my
ideas more freely and effortlessly...I am more willing to
take the first steps on difficult tasks...I am less fearful
of taking risks."
"This workshop involves you in a process that enables
you to unfold to yourself, to experience unconstrained spontaneous
creation and to help you go beyond obvious conclusions to
more powerful innovative expression."
We hope you will be able to join us for this wonderful workshop.
