- 1998 World Class Innovator Award Winners Announced -

Sponsored by the Innovation Network
& Fast Company Magazine

Santa Barbara, CA - March 2, 1998 -- The Innovation Network announced four winners of the prestigious George Land World Class Innovator Award. Winners of the award which honors long-term, broad-based efforts to increase organizational innovation were Clorox Research and Development, Dell University, YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago and Richard Saunders International's Eureka! Ranch. Awards were presented during Convergence 98: Selling and Implementing Innovation held in Santa Barbara, California.

This unique innovation award was created to recognize innovation and creativity in organizations and was named in honor of George Land, a pioneer in the field of organizational innovation, author of the seminal work Grow or Die and co-author of the bestselling Breakpoint and Beyond. Land has been helping organizations change and develop innovation skills for over 30 years and is now working with several countries to help their change efforts.

Winners were presented with a glass sculpture, specially designed by internationally renowned glass artist Latchezar Boyadjiev, whose work was recently acquired for permanent display at the White House. Winners will also be allowed to display a special award logo in recognition of their efforts.

The award was established by the Innovation Network, an international, professional association of business leaders dedicated to helping organizations become more productive through the powerful use of innovation and creativity. Judging for the award is based upon the organization's description of its innovation initiative, in-depth response to specific questions related to the organization's environment, vision and training efforts as well as recommendations from customers and suppliers.

Summaries of previous winners' application packages are available for other companies as a guide to creating their own innovation initiatives. Applications for the 2000 awards are now being accepted and information can be obtained by calling 805-965-8477 or by clicking here.
